Organic meat or organic food is defined as produce that is synthesized by using renewable resources. Something is organic if its production has supported the conservation of water and soil. Something is organic if it has helped the environment through the preservation of its resources. Basically, organic is greener than inorganic products.
For example, meat is considered organic if it came from an animal that was grass-fed. The animal was not pumped with hormones or growth enhancers. The animal must not be caged and must be able to live its life in the utmost freedom and comfort. Organic meat will only be labeled as such if it has passed the inspection.
How does organic meat benefit you?
There are obvious ways that it benefits you. A healthier meat means that you consume less preservatives and synthesized growth enhancers. This can affect your health. However, some studies show that organic is not automatically the better choice. Remember that these animals were let to live unaided. That means they weren’t give antibiotics against particular diseases.
Another way that this meat benefits you is that it relieves you of guilt. By supporting the organic meat industry, you support a more humane way of treating animals. Inorganic cattle live a vicious cycle of being born, being pumped to be plump, and being killed. Itt allows animals to become more than just a source of food. It recognizes that they have rights, too.
Is organic meat worth the extra bucks?
Organic meat costs more because the meat is so much harder to produce. Farmers can’t intervene with the growth process of the animals. Hence, what they see is what they get. If the cow grew up to be thin and not plump, they have to make the best out of that.
Admittedly, the extra cost depends of what your purpose for organic meat is. If you’re doing it based on its principle, then it’s worth the money. If you’re doing it for quality meat, then maybe not so much. Inorganic meat is also healthy in some aspects. They’re financially practical.
